To give you a bit of a background on me, I am a forever student. I desire to continue to grow, to learn about the human body and mind, and to put the pieces of the puzzle into place as they present themselves in my life. My path to this passion truly started when I had a baby just after I turned 20. The birth and postpartum experience was a whirlwind of losing myself deeper into others’ advice, yet finding the yearning for more. My gut was telling me things could have gone differently, but I wasn’t sure how. That was August of 2007.
Fast-forward to March of 2017 as I sat in a BIRTHFIT Coach Seminar educating the group on a few pretty damn important things, but learning so much more. “Culture is simply education.” Josh, a participant at the seminar, shared this nugget of insight as we discussed where we are in the birth world today (a hot mess is where we are and BIRTHFIT is on a mission to change that). His words resonated with me; education means so much.
….our actions in and of themselves are education for those around us. What we accept, or not, will be what we carry forward in this world.
The way that we choose to live creates the culture of self and home, our actions in and of themselves are education for those around us. What we accept, or not, will be what we carry forward in this world. This is where true growth can occur. It starts within.
Rewind back to 2007. Yes, something could have been different but going through that experience is part of the reason I am where I am today. Sounds a bit cliche, doesn’t it? It’s true though. And, just like I cannot change my birth story we cannot change our past. And we don’t need to. How freeing is that? You can leave that shit behind you! We can choose to learn from it, choose to move forward with intention, choose to cleanse our mind. We can surround ourselves with mentors in like missions and not only educate those around us in finding their own true potential but learn from them to help find ours.
We can surround ourselves with mentors in like missions and not only educate those around us in finding their own true potential but learn from them to help find ours.
I encourage you to question the culture around you. Set your intention. In mindset, in movement, in nutrition, it is easy to do what is culturally “common.” Sometimes far easier than asking “why?”. Often easier than the path to cultural change. But, take ten minutes a day to set your intention and watch the way the universe presents itself to you.
As we prepare for the spring retreat we have so much to share in creating a space for cleansing – to release, recharge, and grow!
