TESTIMONIALS
“I completed a 230hr Yoga Teacher Training with Kat in October of 2017 and the experience was nothing short of life changing. Kat’s patience, humility and humor creates a safe space for students to explore themselves as well as their yoga practice. My training with Kat, Sara and Jill gave me the confidence to teach yoga as well confidence in myself and my ability to be a calm, positive person in every aspect of my life.” – Michelle
“Going into the anatomy portion of training, I was excited to learn something new, but also intimidated by my lack of knowledge and the vastness of the topic. Jill’s positive and upbeat energy on day one made me forget about any insecurities I had. She presented a lot of detailed material in a very approachable and understandable way.” – Barb
“After the completion of my 230-hour training, I can honestly say that it was hands-down, one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life. It opened up doors for personal growth and inquiry that I wouldn’t have been introduced to otherwise.” – Dani
“PALM + PINE’s YTT was the perfect catalyst on my journey of personal growth and self-discovery! This dynamic training gave me the tools I needed to become a next-level yoga teacher! Whether you aspire to teach yoga, or you’re on a quest for self knowledge (or both, like me) – I highly recommend investing in this 230hr YTT. Kat and her extraordinary training team have set me up with a sturdy, well-rounded foundation that I am now able to use as a springboard for success.” – Amy

FACILITATOR: Chelsea Schmitz-Gillam has worked with youth her entire career and was inspired to found The Youth Yoga Collective, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Minneapolis, because she believes in the power of creating spaces where youth can feel genuinely seen, heard, valued and connected as part of a larger community.
Over the past 15 years, Chelsea has worked as a High School English teacher in New Orleans; a restorative justice advocate; a juvenile defense attorney in Hennepin County; a restorative facilitator in Minneapolis and St. Paul Public Schools; and a youth, adult and family yoga teacher. It is these experiences that have inspired her to facilitate youth yoga workshops in schools and in the community as a means to support youth in unpacking their feelings, experiences and stories so that they have an opportunity to learn from and, perhaps, connect with the experiences of others, thereby enhancing their ability to be in intentional community with others. Chelsea works with youth in Twin Cities schools through these workshops and she is dedicated to pushing back on reactionary and deficit-based youth systems by offering a space for young people that is centered around strengths-based interactions and proactive skill-building. In a world that can feel incredibly overwhelming, all youth deserve to have access to resources that promote greater self-empowerment.
Chelsea is also an E-YRT through Yoga Alliance and has Youth Yoga certification through Radiant Child Yoga.
